Gearing up for the summer season at York Meadows
Posted on 21 Apr 2023 in News
It’s April already and the season is in full swing. We’ve had a busy start to 2023 and our new warden, Nigel, has been thrown in at the deep end, but he’s taken to his new role like a duck to water. We are delighted that Jill has taken on the role of manager, and she has done a great job so far this season, with the support of the whole team.
We spent a lot of last year installing, organising, training and getting used to the new online booking system to make sure that we were ready to launch in time for the post-Christmas rush. So far this season it has worked really well for us, allowing guests to check prices and availability and make a booking at any time of the day (or night!!).
If you have already stayed with us this season, you will see that there have been quite a few changes over the winter period. Alongside all of the regular maintenance, our main work was the creation of the new seasonal and super pitches on Lillings Meadow. We realised there was potential for more seasonal pitches after we had so many enquiries from guests with tourers and motorhomes who wanted to stay with us for longer, so we took the plunge at the end of the season and started digging up the existing grass pitches.
The weather wasn’t always kind to us and we seemed to spend a lot of the time working in really wet and muddy conditions, but when there was so much underground work to get all the pitches fully serviced, then it was always going to be the case. The result is that we now have some brand new, spacious grass superpitches. These pitch types are new for us at York Meadows, and consist of enough space for a tent, caravan or motorhome, awning, and parking for one car. These pitches are supplied with a picnic table, connections for electricity (16amp), fresh water supply and wastewater disposal.
We have also added some stunning static holiday homes on Minster View with the brand new Atlas Debonair and Willerby Manor, and we have some lovely new guests who have already bought the Sierra, Rio and Sheraton models we were lucky enough to have for sale. We welcome them to York Meadows, and hope that they have a fantastic season with us.
Alongside all of the new plants that are now in flower and bringing colour around the Park, we have created a young orchard. We are looking forward to seeing the apple, plum and pear trees grow, and looking forward even more to the promised crumbles, pies and puddings!
Over the winter we also had a bit of a brand refresh, We have a new logo, and consequently we have replaced our existing signage with new custom-made signs which you will see at the entrance, and we have new directional signage around the Park, which looks fresh and clean, and mean that our guests should know exactly where they are going.
We are looking forward to the season ahead, our shop is fully stocked, and the team on reception are on hand for any questions that you might have. We very much look forward to welcoming you to York Meadows.
Team York Meadows.
