Posted on 02 Jun 2026 in News
Travel to York and beyond directly from the gates of York Meadows
Guests staying at York Meadows can now take advantage of the new X81 Hail & Ride bus service, which stops on the road directly outside the park entrance.
This convenient service provides easy access to York city centre, as well as the villages of Strensall and Sheriff Hutton, and the magnificent Castle Howard estate. Whether you’re planning a day of sightseeing, shopping, dining, or exploring the Yorkshire countryside, you can leave the car behind and start your journey from the gates of the park.
The Hail & Ride service allows passengers to signal the bus to stop at safe points along the route, making it a flexible and convenient transport option for York Meadows guests.
Popular destinations on the X81 route include:
- York City Centre
- Strensall
- Sheriff Hutton
- Castle Howard
The service operates on selected days and times, so we recommend checking the latest timetable before travelling.
