Castle Howard is one of England’s finest historic houses, set in a thousand acres of sweeping parkland dotted with statues, temples, lakes and fountains. There is an award winning adventure playground for the kids and multiple cafes, shops and even a garden centre.
The Gardens are open daily, and are dog-friendly. The House is open from Spring to October, and is dressed for Christmas from November to January.

If you’re planning a visit to Castle Howard, mark your calendar for the main Season, running from April to October, when the House is open for exploration. During your visit, you’ll have the chance to wander through bedrooms, halls, and state rooms, taking in the rich history and architectural splendor. Keep an eye out for the fire-damaged rooms, a poignant reminder of a catastrophic event in 1940.
